Asylum

Guide / Info leaflet on the social rights of Asylum Seekers
01/09/2008 - 15:18:09
Asylum Seekers are regularly confronted with a number of barriers, such as strict employment policies, discriminatory treatment, language barriers; unfamiliarity with the local labour market and the opportunities it offers for employment; low qualifications, difficult psychological state, family responsibilities, etc.

This information leaflet in English and Arabic describes the legal framework and procedures followed by the relevant authorities in relation to the social rights of asylum seekers in the areas of employment, welfare benefits, health and education and the acquisition of documents by asylum seekers, as they are laid down by the 2007 Regulations of the Refugee Law.

Additionally, the publication aims to make asylum seekers aware about the most frequently faced practical problems and suggests possible ways to avoid and overcome them.
